Privacy Policy
Effective July 10, 2026
Cashn't is a personal finance tracker. The short version: your money data is yours. We store it only to make the app work, we don't sell it, we don't run ads, and you can delete everything, permanently, from inside the app.
What we collect
- Account details — if you create an account: your email address and, with Apple sign-in, the name Apple shares. Guest mode collects none of this.
- Financial data you enter — asset names and values, expenses, stashes, goals, budgets, and trip budgets. We never connect to your bank; everything in Cashn't is data you typed in yourself.
- Group spend data — if you join a shared trip: the display name you choose and the expenses you log to that group, visible to the other members of that group.
- A sync identifier — a random ID (or your account ID) used to store your encrypted-in-transit backup. No advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, no analytics trackers.
How your data is used
For exactly one purpose: making Cashn't work — backing up your data and syncing it between your own devices. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. There is no third-party analytics SDK in the app.
Where it lives
- On your device — Cashn't is local-first; your data works offline.
- Firebase Authentication (Google) — handles sign-in (email/password and Sign in with Apple). See Firebase's privacy documentation.
- Our database (hosted on Railway) — stores your synced snapshot, keyed to your account. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Your controls
- Guest mode — use the app with no account; data stays on the device.
- Export — You → Export JSON gives you a full copy any time.
- Delete your account — You → Delete account permanently removes your account, the synced copy on our servers, and all data on the device. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
Retention
We keep your synced data for as long as you have an account. Delete the account and it's gone from our database immediately. Local data on a device is removed when you delete the account, clear data in the app, or uninstall.
Children
Cashn't is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be flagged in the app.
